The short version: your writing never leaves your device. Zen has no server, no accounts, and no interest in what you write.

Data collection

Zen does not collect personal data. Drafts, outlines, word counts, and settings are stored locally in your browser and nowhere else. We cannot read your writing; no copy exists outside your device unless you export one yourself.

Permissions

Zen requests only the Chrome permissions needed to open its writing room and store your drafts locally. It requests no host permissions, does not read the pages you visit, and never accesses browsing history.

Sound & external links

Ambient sound is bundled with the extension and plays locally — nothing is streamed and no audio service is contacted. If you follow an optional link out to a music service, that service's own privacy policy governs from there.

Third parties

No analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers.
